Riding is fun challenging activity! Unlike regular, every day activities, there is always something new to do when riding. The world of horses is packed with features, news, events and advice for riders of all ages and abilities.
Riding is a sport just like football or soccer. For all those people who think all you do is sit there, this is a very wrong assumption. Riding a horse takes bravery, strength and balance. Like any other sport it involves weight loss and better physical tone.

Overcome Fears
Horse riding is also a way to overcome fears. A little fear is a good thing. It stimulates the adrenalin that makes you perform better and makes you more in tune with your objective. They say you most be little nervous to do some public speaking otherwise you won’t give it your best.
But what you do need is the confidence to master your fear and to do it anyway.
Riding gives you confidence being aware that you controlling and leading a horse. It also helps you to develop habits to stay focused, calm and in control in certain stressful situations. It is hard to get past your fear when you doing things by yourself. Learning how to develop a rapport with a horse the goal is to make the horse feel like you are always the safest place to be whenever exciting or unusual things happen. It is all strengthen you and bring back your trust is your abilities and self confidence.

Beside the challenge it opens a great new world for you. A child (and even adult) learns how to reach a horse, take care of its needs. You will learn the horse and horseback riding vocabulary, uncover the tricks and tips for sitting correctly in the saddle, learn the correct way to hold and use the reins. You will learn what equipment you need if you are going to be riding and where you can get it (by the way, you can rent a horse and many of the accessories you need to, you don't have to buy them.)
Horseback riders really are a tribe, and once you begin riding you will find many people on horse trails and trail rides to talk to which means increasing your social circle, and for those who are quite shy this is the easiest way to meet new people
It also reduce stress, while horseback riding and spending time with a horse melts away tension and daily stress like magic, which means it can improve your whole outlook on life.

Prepare Yourself
Taking that challenge, young or older, we all need some confidence and some understanding of what’s required. For children it opens new exciting word, parents who need to make sure they are safe also have to do some preparation (Or … Just do it with them!) . A book about horse riding is a good start, lots of book available out there to start with, the second, safer choice of course is to find a good instructor.
If you get in the saddle for the first time knowing the basics, the instructor’s advice will not only sink in better but you will remember it more. You will be less terrified and be able to concentrate more on what you are doing.
